Lecture hall Sponsoring

The lecture hall H218 of the Foundry Institute at the RWTH Aachen University was re-dedicated: The location, well remembered among Foundry Institute alumni and characterized by the prominently placed iron-carbon phase diagram, is now called the “MAGMA-Hörsaal” (MAGMA auditorium).

Lecture hall H218, a designated historical site, is one of the first sponsored auditoriums outside of the central lecture halls at the RWTH Aachen. With its commitment, MAGMA supports research and education at the RWTH Aachen Foundry Institute, confirming its long-standing connection to the alma mater of many MAGMA employees. Since the eighties, in addition to Dr.-Ing. Erwin Flender, shareholder of the MAGMA group, many other MAGMA people have learned the basics for “casting in the computer” by attending the lectures of Prof. Peter R. Sahm, a visionary of foundry simulation technology. Univ. Prof. Dr.-Ing. A. Bührig-Polaczek, the current head of the department, also used to sit in the rows of this lecture hall during his studies in Aachen. He is happy about the longterm cooperation between MAGMA and the Foundry Institute, reflected in numerous research projects and the shared commitment to educating foundry engineers.
