Aachen/Speyer, Germany, November 2015. The German language user meeting in Speyer, Germany, on October 21 and 22 was focused on the topic ‘Optimization with MAGMA5 Rel. 5.3’. More than 170 attendees came to the technical museum to exchange their practical experience using the new methodology for autonomous optimization. Examples of the use of virtual experimentation and design of experiments were recurring themes during the two day event.

User contributions addressing iron casting, high pressure die casting and sand core production were followed by breakout workshops focusing on material and process specific examples, as well as tips and tricks to make best use of the new capabilities of MAGMA  5 Rel. 5.3. A guided museum tour and the evening event in the Astronautics Hall were further highlights of the first day.

On the second day, open forums offered the possibility to exchange information regarding the use of the different software perspectives. In addition, the MAGMAacademy program was presented. Many questions were addressed and solved on location in a direct dialogue between users and MAGMA staff. MAGMA presentations about the practical application of optimization to address heat treatment, residual stresses and distortion as well as an outlook on the next release MAGMA5 Rel. 5.4 rounded off the event. MAGMA expresses its appreciation to all participants for their constructive contributions and the interesting discussions.
